Meet the Artist

Hi, I’m Alex,

a tattoo artist and visual artist originally from Cape Town, South Africa, currently residing in Wilderness. However, you can find me in Cape Town on a bi-monthly basis. I’ve been tattooing since 2017, with a special focus ornamental and geometric designs. I am extremely passionate the craft, and as a result, I enjoy taking on projects of all styles and sizes!

I am half Swiss and spent a great deal of my childhood growing up in Basel. Because of this, I am fluent in not only English but also Swiss German, and German. I have also had the privilege of regularly guesting at studios across Europe and participating in international tattoo conventions around the globe. I am deeply passionate about travel; the sights I see and the people I have the privilege of working with on my travels deeply inform the work that I do, pushing me to strive for my utmost potential, not only creatively, but also in the experience I aim to offer each of my clients.

My work is deeply inspired by eastern textile designs, folklore and the anthropological and cultural significance of tattooing across the globe.​

If I’m not busy tattooing you can find me painting, pottering around in my garden,or spending time with my Fiancé Jon, and my dog, Ziggy.

I tattoo by appointment only, as I work from a private studio in Wilderness and guest on a bi-monthly basis in Cape Town at Tomb Tattoo.
